MEET VENUS WONG

I am an abstract contemporary artist and web designer. I work with oil, acrylic, watercolor and alcohol ink on various substrates. My home studio is in Maryland where I live with my husband and toddler.

I am drawn to anything creative and is an avid DIYer and interior design enthusiast. I thrive to live a purposeful and intentional life by experiencing each moment as the unique gift it is. I am always seeking to learn and grow. Painting allows me freedom of expression and tranquility.

BACKGROUND

My Profound love for visual art began somewhere in my childhood when I started sketching. All through my early memories I recall drawing so much I had stacks upon stacks of loose pages of everything from portrait sketches to plant life and buildings. Somehow over my teen years I stopped and it wasn’t until many years later that I started sketching again and eventually painting.

INSPIRATION

I always tell everyone that my husband is the artist, he’s artistic in every aspect – art in food, photography, painting, graphic design. While I am a self-taught artist, he is my mentor. By some universal design he came onto my path and thus my journey with art ignited again.

STYLE

One if the most challenging things about being an artist is finding one’s style. My style is ever evolving. My focuses for now are abstract, textured paintings and  sculptural and geometric artwork.  I work with a variety of mediums; oil, acrylic, alcohol ink.

GRATITUDE

Waking up with new purpose, reuniting with my old friend – art, has been the second most fulfilling thing that I have experienced in my life thus far (the first is becoming a mama; cliché but true). Besides being able to submerge and connect with the paint and canvas as though my being itself has become a part of a piece, the notion that another human might love my work enough to have a place for it in their home like a member of the family is the most humbling and gratifying feeling. Thank you for supporting my journey and dream. It means more that you could know.
